Esta Lucecita is a non-profit organization formed to support the wellness and health education of the people in Iquitos, Peru and surrounding communities. We partner with local organizations and health care providers to deliver relief medical care to underserved areas in this diverse and beautiful region of our world. Our goal is to provide financial and professional resources to the local Peruvian Medical Team for long term growth and development.
Several times each year, American teams, comprised of medical professionals and support personnel, travel to Peru to provide financial and hands-on support alongside the local Peruvian Medical Team Clinics consisting of medical and dental care, disease prevention education and spiritual care. We provide free medication and vitamins and other self-care supplies including toothbrushes and reading glasses. We are hoping to continue to expand the services we provide.
Trips are usually scheduled for 6-7 days with 2-3 additional days for travel. Teams are based out of Mission Evangelica Pentecostal Independente Bible School in the city of Iquitos. Accommodations are dorm-style and all meals are included. Translators are available at all times to help with communication. Relief clinics are held within the city and surrounding villages along the Amazon, Itaya and Nanay Rivers. Teams travel to and from the clinics by open air buses, motor cars and small boats. Team members are encouraged to be prepared for all kinds of weather and last-minute changes.
In the time between international trips, we work to supply funding to the local team so they can continue to provide much needed care to those in need. The Peruvian Medical team, lead by nurse Hursula Maytahuari, are committed to providing relief care clinics on a regular basis throughout the year. Many of the local health care providers donate their time to serve their community.
Your generosity has expanded Esta Lucecita’s (EL) reach in 2025, bringing medical care, spiritual support, and hope to underserved communities throughout the Loreto region of Peru. Thank you for your prayers, faithful giving, and presence. We are deeply grateful for how YOU have helped serve the Peruvian people and strengthen this growing mission.
Romans 12:12–13
“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people in need. Practice hospitality.”
As we look ahead, your continued support allows us to expand care, strengthen local leadership, and reach even more communities with the love of Christ. We are honored and grateful to serve alongside you.
Thank you for making this possible!
Grateful to be trusted and used to serve,
Beth Pepper
